Background
In 1980 there was only one chapter of the EDPAA in the state of North Carolina. This chapter was headquartered in Charlotte and drew participation for EDP Auditors as far east as Winston-Salem and Greensboro. EDP Auditors further east were either not associated with the EDPAA or they drove to Virginia to participate with chapters there.
In the early 80’s, a group of Charlotte members from the Triad area decided to split off from the larger chapter and form their own group. The reason behind the movement was simply to cut down on the travel required to attend chapter meetings.
Today, membership of the Research Triangle Chapter is comprised of more than 400 IT Audit, Security and Governance professionals from the following industries:
